District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Khawzawl District was inaugurated on the 20th March, 2021 and the office started functioning on 1st April, 2021.
DRDA (now DRDO) Khawzawl implemented various Centrally Sponsored Schemes viz. Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, PMAY (G) and SPMRM. One New Generation Watershed Project WDC-PMKSY 2.0 is started on 2022-2023 which cover an area of 2500 Ha (unit Cost of ₹ 28,000/Ha) at Chawngtlai (1000 Ha) and Tualte (1500 Ha) Villages in the ratio of 2:3 respectively.
During the financial year 2021-22, there were 8,545 Job Card holders and 8,56,730 man-days were generated under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA within Khawzawl District. 100 days wage employment was achieved. Under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, various works/activities such as Water Conservation, Watershed Management, Irrigation, Land Development, Rural connectivity, Afforestation etc. were implemented.
